This is the original desk diary which belonged to the renown Lakeland author A. Harry Griffin (15 January 1911 – 9 July 2004). He was a British journalist and mountaineer.
He wrote these Lakeland diaries for the Guardian newspaper for 53 years.
This 1949 diary has cuttings from the newspaper over a two year period, the cuttings are dated in pencil. Someone has also added an obituary to the diary in honour of him.
Please note that this item was donated used so it may show some signs of age and use, there is some slight wear in places but overall, it does seem to still be in generally good condition. There is a lot of 'sellotape' used which is showing it's age.
